Admin Monday (2 days late!) - End of Year wrap-up 2013

Myself and Caspar went outdoors drawing again, this time looking at Menlo Castle. We're going to do more of this next year, so keep an eye on this map.

Google are building a Gallery software for Artists and Institutions to showcase their work with embedding tools for websites, everything. It looks really awesome and you can apply for it here.

A guy in Texas is reverse-engineering a Camera Obscura to see if it's possible that Vermeer did work that way.

The Illustrator Sheilah Beckett passed away at the age of 100, still using her tablet and painting away on Photoshop. An inspiration to us all.

Galway Pub Scrawl #84 - Quick, add a cat!

Holy moly, I forgot to take a group photo! I blame the wind, we're getting tornado warnings here in Galway. But we turned up and we had a great time! Here's the Art -

I was not drawing-enabled this week. I could barely manage a portraity thing from the Internet, but I did it anyway. :)

The Irish Sketch Society are doing an Indiana Jones-themed week this week. I suggested we all try our hands - Katie and Mary actually followed through!

Brian Naughton is involved in a group that is trying to get some funding for a comic anthology project. Throw them some money on Kickstarter?

I wish I had mentioned this last week - the Ennis Comic Mart was on yesterday. Mark it down for next year, you guys! I'll try and find someone to give us some feedback on how it went. Thanks to Maura for posting it on our Facebook page in advance, at least. :)

And one of the reasons I wish I mentioned it was that Abandoned Comics are looking for two artists for their next comic project and were doing portfolio viewings at the Mart. You can still check out the link on how to email Martin and Mike to apply to the project.

Helen pointed us towards how to submit to Support Irish Art, a new listing webpage for emerging Irish Artists. You can follow through and get a listing if you like. :) Also, "like" Helen's page on Facebook.

And finally, Eva from Drink Draw Cork is hanging around in the Arctic! She's writing a blog about it, it's interesting stuff - go check it out!

Illustrators Ireland post a round-up of recent works by members on their blog every so often - very cool, and one just went up recently.

The BBC and the pcf over in England are running a website called "Your Paintings" where lesser known and hidden works of Art in smaller collections, storage etc are getting some exposure. Worth browsing the archive!

Patrick also linked to the super-dense tutorial material over at androidarts. A LOT of stuff here worth looking over.

Galway Pub Scrawl #78 - Fun with Art

Another fun night in the pub! Normally, I would wait for an Admin Monday to make some notices, but these are time dependent and mostly involve contests - have fun:

Notices:

Yolande pointed out this art contest for the Donkey Sanctuary in Co. Cork. The theme is Donkeys.... :) Closing date is the 19th of March.

And Yolande pointed out that Ropes are looking for Art Submissions for their 2013 issue - the deadline is next Monday (the 28th), so move fast!

Monday the 28th is also the last day for this good cause which needs some Art that Joe Neary pointed out.

The Gazebo are still looking for Art for their next issue, the theme is Virtual Gaming. Get your art into them! Anita tells me their deadline is the 3rd of February.
