Admin Monday... let me see.... 10 FEB 2014?

Hey everybody! I have to go back and add details for all the photos on the Pub Scrawl posts, I'm a few behind at the moment, sorry about that! Work has taken to scheduling me for Tuesday mornings, so I just barely have time to upload the pics on a Monday night before I collapse to bed. But anyways, for now an Admin Monday, with all the links and updates from our Facebook group - join us there!

Updates:

Chuck suggested that maybe we should go on a Pub Scrawl cinema date:

Links:

Brian from Drink & Draw Sligo linked to this -

pretty cool!

Aaron Diaz has moved his Silmarillion Project material to a new Tumblr - look at those character designs!

Check out Android Jones' Gallery at integrallife.

There's some really good digital art resources free to download at ArtByPapercut.

I forgot February first was Hourly Comics Day. The idea is to make a little mini-comic an hour for every hour you're awake, about what you did that hour. If you poke around the internet, you can find some nice ones from this year -

Kim Jung Gi did a live drawing demonstration - you can see the recorded version here.

And Conor linked to these cool pictures made from folds in paper - awesome.

Make sure to join us next Monday in McSwiggans for Galway Pub Scrawl #105 - The Poo Chorus!

Our 4th Birthday! Woo-hoo!

We had a kicking 4th birthday! Huge thanks to the super friendly staff at McSwiggans as always for their years of tolerating us. :D And thanks to everyone who turned up, and all who brought treats. Helen, Katie & Yolande brought delicious baked goods. :) We all had a great time - 4 more years!

Here's the group cake shot!

And here's a rare Pub Scrawl pic - one with me in it!

Mo was rocking the Balloon Animals....

... but being Mo, she didn't take them too seriously.

Yolande was keeping the craft quotient up.

While I was showing Katie how to make butterflies.

Katie was making some of her great Scruffy Designs as well - and wearing a lovely tiara!

While Dermo had his take on a Japanese plate pattern.

Patrick was rocking a hat and drawing some awesome stuff.

While Mary was also on the origami train...

... and drawing beautiful trees.

Jay was knocking it out of the park with these pieces.

And I was doing some Sci-Fi.

Oisin was drawing this great picture, but my flash washed it out a bit. :(

And Alan drew this - nice.

BOOM! Great birthday you guys. You can follow us on twitter now for announcements. Make sure to check back next Monday for our admin updates and in two weeks for another amazing PUB SCRAWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Galway Pub Scrawl #94 - Evil nuns are bad!!!

Another night of Art and fun in the pub! We had a great time as always, but I didn't get a photo of everyone's Art. :( Sorry Helen & Oisin!

Here's a very crude panorama of us all hanging out!

Alanna was working on getting metallic textures in pencil. It's quite tricky - and so easy in photoshop. Something for us all to work on.

Ger was drawing one of his intricate buildings - he also did another piece later, but I missed that too. :(

Casey drew this awesome portrait!

I was doing this boat pic. I was copying an idea I saw in the Wally Wood book (fair notice).

Mary was drawing these cool guys.

And Katie was getting the Cyclops "Scruffy". :)

Yolande was crafting away as usual - I missed a pic of Helen's crocheting.

That's it for another Pub Scrawl! Come on back next week for another round of cool updates and links, or join us on the Facebook group to stay ahead of the game. And then in two Mondays time, come to McSwiggans for our 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone wear a festive Hat!

Admin Monday 26th AUG 2013 - the triumphant return of Admin Mondays!

We've been on hiatus with our round of links and updates since the epicness of the 31 day drawing challenge, but it's time to focus once again on the things that are interesting us on Facebook. :)

Updates:

Our 4th Birthday is coming up fast, but our sister group's 4th birthday is first! If you're in Cork tomorrow, you can join the guys and girls of Drink Draw Cork in celebrating their 4th anniversary! We only do what we do cos we copied them, so go celebrate with them if you can (bring cake - they like cake).

Our own Katie Creaven is in the process of launching her own business, Scruffy Morris. Help out by liking her Facebook page.

This is going to be one of the best exhibitions around, consider yourself warned. :)

Friend of Pub Scrawl Daire Lynch is featuring at the Cong Fringe Festival on the 4th of October - check it out on Facebook for updates!

Daire is also running a fundit campaign for his project "Light in the Dark" which is aiming to collaborate with musicians to make a exhibition that focuses on music.

If you've always wondered why you should join us on Facebook, you'll be privy to awesome discussions of why you should or should not go to Art College, for one, as well as getting to see people's awesome Art, like this Medusa by Brian Cunningham! :)

Links:

There are some fantastic articles over at Art in Print that are free to read - most are behind their paywall - including this one on copying Durer's engravings.

We discussed photographing Artwork before - Dave Palumbo has a cheaper set-up than the last one we talked about.

I thought this portfolio site from Sergey Kritskiy was awesome.

Paul pointed us in the direction of this handy (ho ho ho) tutorial about drawing hands from nk-chan on deviantART

James Gurney posted up his own youtube week last week, with lots of cool goodies. I really liked this one - "Deluge Ends Painting Day"

Paggy pointed out this portfolio site on twitter while dubbing his style "retro futurism". It may be that, it's also very, very cool.

Ania Banannia linked to Posemaniacs. I'm not sure if we ever linked to it before, but it is a essential website for drawing practise. Check it out!

Stephanie Power linked to this lovely animation for a kickstarter project. Gorgeous concept art.

Tune in next week for photos from Galway Pub Scrawl #94 - Evil nuns are bad!. If you're in Cork tomorrow, go to Drink Draw Cork's FOURTH BIRTHDAY!!!!!! It'll serve as a nice warm-up for our own fourth birthday! I'm excited! You should be too!

Galway Pub Scrawl #93 - Sometimes Artists need elbow protection

Another night of fun and Art in the Pub! A quieter night than usual, but still lots of fun to be had. Katie in particular entertained us with her singing in various registers. :)

See - here they all are, having the craic.

Chuck was drawing this man and his magnificent facial hair.

Nico was drawing portraits as well.

I was trying to copy Durer (trying operative world).

Helen was making this colourful blanket/evening dress.

Mary was making designs.

Katie was drawing cute raggy nuns.

And Patrick was designing monsters!

And that's it for another Pub Scrawl! Join us in a week for the triumphant return of admin Mondays, and in two weeks time for another outstanding PUB SCRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL!
