Fantastiche night at the Pub Scrawl last night. For some reason someone suggested a theme of "tassles" - I don't think we did a lot of tassle-based art, although there is at least one Zombie Stripper to show you guys. I'll have to post the pics later, cos we were home late & I've been dragged off to boring old work this afternoon.
The 1st inaugral Galway Sketchcrawl is on THIS SATURDAY, the 21st. Also supposedly the day of the Rapture, so that should give us some cool things to paint. We're starting at the Galway City Museum Cafe at the Spanish Arch and heading towards Salthill. Unless the weather is crappy, then I don't know what we'll do. Hang out and have a sketchsulk, someone suggested. That might be the case. On the Facebook event for the sketchcrawl I said it starts at 12. THIS IS INSANITY. It'll be starting around 2 PM. This is a civillised man's waking & walking hours. I must change the Facebook details this evening.
Hopefully this works here:

This is the route we'll be on if you're looking for us. Fun times! Pictures from last night's Pub Scrawl later.

Late breaking news! This was posted as I was typing up the blog - Gorilla Artfare released their book!!!!!!!. This is absolutely amazing. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The best money you will spend this year, or the next.
New post monday! Lest I forget....
There's always a danger I'll forget to do these. I've been trying to figure out a date for a sketchcrawl across galway. Some saturday afternoon, very shortly, keep an eye peeled! We'll do a route something like this - route-ah.
I haven't been keeping myself organised enough to have a set of links ready to hand to distribute for your entertainment, so let's see what I can push together at the last minute.
Sergio Lopez has a set of images up which I think are some of his most stunning yet. Full disclosure - I bought one of his original sketches in an eBay auction once, so I may count as biased, but I think his art is fantastic.
I started a Tumblr account recently. Anyone who Pub Scrawls or is part of our affiliated sister groups should hit me up there! I'll link in anyone else who lets me know how to find their Tumblr. Browsing around, I found this, which is just awesome. Particularly seeing as I love PITT pens, as any Pub Scrawler will know.
I *love* group blogs, so I was instantly enamoured with Bristol Whip, which showcases amazing art on great themes. We also love themes at the Galway Pub Scrawl. :D
If you like themes, and you like Star Wars, you could do worse than run over to the 11 o'clock comics forums and join in the Monthly EOC Sketchbook Challenge. There's a call for your favourite Star Wars Character in the form of an Illustration.
If you like comic book storytelling, Sydney Padua has posted the funniest version of how to influence character dynamics I've seen in a long time. It reminds me somewhat of what Aaron Diaz does on his blog.
Not bad for a thrown together post!
Ciao til next time. The next Pub Scrawl is on the 16th of May. We're looking forward to seeing you there. I'm thinking a good day for the Sketchcrawl would be Saturday the 14th, but that depends on numerous factors. Stay tuned!

Galway Pub Scrawl #39 - Lipstick, Vaseline & Toast
A very quiet night at the pubscrawl! It was so warm inside the pub with so little air movement that it was making us all really sleepy too. We might have to find a beer garden somewhere to move to! Anywhere with fresh air would have made all the difference on monday. I think I'm *still* laggy because of it. Oh, and because we have a bunch of bank holidays in a row here in Ireland, we're skipping the next natural pub scrawl date and we'll have one two weeks after that. Details are on the facebook page. So Pub Scrawl #40 - compromise on granite will be on monday the 16th of may! Maybe we'll find somewhere with a beer garden to go to. Like those lousy Drink & Draw Cork people with their HUGE beergarden out the back of the fabulous Franciscan Well. Ah, if only we had a 'Well in Galway. I'ld have a Pub Scrawl every night.
Anyway, pictures! I had a picture of Mary's cute cookie-eyes picture, but it's gone AWOL. I'll get it from her when I can.

Patrick's Velociraptor is a *real* clever girl. She should watch Dan Talfer's video though "Hello, fucker! *POW*"

Linda worked on some nice drawings - good textures.

Unfinished portrait piece from moi -

and another piece "The Old Gods can wait" -

That's it for now! I'll try and remember to do a monday post for the next three mondays, then back in a month for another Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuub Scraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawl!

Pub Scrawl 38! - Who in the what in the where in the Why?
So, another fortnight, another Pub Scrawl! Our theme was Noah's Ark this time around. This one was fun, but be warned! Keith had charge of the camera a lot so I don't know much of what happened. So let's see what happens when we put these pictures up -
Mary gives a Gummi Bear a friend before his eventual death -

Keith may have been taking charge of the camera -

Linda at the Pub Scrawl -

Linda's take on Noah's Ark. Note the giraffes! -

Patrick at the Pub Scrawl. I wonder if Keith hit him before this picture or something? I don't know, I didn't have the camera. :) -

Patrick's take - God told Noah to build an Ark so he'ld have a toy for the bath. I just don't want to see Mount Sinaii, that's all I'm saying.

Mary & I at the Pub Scrawl -

Mary's Noah's Ark Reactor -

And another from Mary -

Me at the Pub Scrawl. Stoned? No, just tired -

My take on Noah's Ark. It was a tight squeeze taking what they did take, alright -

And Mo's take on Noah's Ark.

That's it for another Scrawl! I'll try and remember to do an art post next week & be back as well in another fortnight with another Pub Scrawl.

Superman says NO!
So I forgot to do a non-Pub Scrawl Art related post last night, but that's the way the blog crumbles. Or something. :) Anyhoo, on the suggestion of, I think, Mary & Jenny, our theme this week was fake beer labels! I didn't know where this was going to go, or if it was going to go well, but the theme showed me. People warmed to it quickly and some great fake beer labels were produced!
Here's your pictures:
Gathering for the Scrawl -

Yolande knits -

Patrick's label/ad for Vodka Slamers (apparently Slammers is a tm) -

Mo's label, Dog's Bollocks Beer -

Jenny gets to work on....

Giant Cock Beer! -

Mary's awesome label for Bendy Beer -

Oisin's Odyssey Brew "It's full of Stars" -

Mine, ripping of Cerebus a little, Uncle Groucho's Bathtub Beer -

Iggy at work - I must have missed his final, my head was a little fuzzy this evening!

Ciao!
