Maura McHugh has organised the next Laydeez do comics on the 30th of November in the Odessa Club, Dublin. Make sure to check them out if you like comics!

Roisin has started an 8 week sketching course in Clarinbridge You can contact her roisin.cure (at) gmail.com to see if there's spaces.

And Mary pointed us in the direction of this contest - a chance to illustrate comic pages for Aaron D'Errico. Submit by November the 4th for a chance to win $2,000!

There was a good adaptation of what Charles Bukowski had to say on creativity and ideal conditions over on Brain Pickings.

This was a beautiful blend of animation and illustration/comics.

Galway Pub Scrawl #65 - Puny human number one

A very fun - but super warm - night at the Pub Scrawl! Jeebus it's humid here in Galway at the minute - you could dilute your watercolours with your sweat these days.

We're thinking that we'll run our 30 day drawing challenge for the Pub Scrawl through the month of July. Topics will be finalised soon! ANYONE all around the world is encouraged to jump in on this one. When we post the days' results, post a comment with your version of the topic!

Galway Pub Scrawl #59 - More than one way to avoid Myxomatosis

Hello Pub Scrawlers & Scrawl-watchers!

had a great start to the month with a night in the pub last night. Most of us were pumped up after our visit to Dr. Sketchy's Dublin on Saturday with the Drink Draw Cork guys. Really inspired, watch for a post on that this week sometime!

Without further ado or adon't, here's the photos from last night -

We weren't going any madder than usual or anything, just Ger tried to eat my camera...

But he did draw this awesome Bunny Space Marine in between bites!

Oisin also gave us bunnies...

- that grew! This one was real tiny, I hope you can make out the scale and the fineness of it from the photo.

And then Oisin gave us more bunnies - he was super-productive last night!

Our next Galway Pub Scrawl - Wea-pun of Mass Destruction is in two weeks, Monday April 16th. It's officially designated as number 60 and still going strong! This month is going to be a month of posts focussing on the work various members do both in and out of Pub Scrawl, so keep an eye out for more posts than usual.

So a quick line on updates as is usual for the monday in between Scrawls. Hmmmm...

Oh yeah, okay. So there are two *great* art blogs that I think you guys might get a kick out of. I've been reading these guys for an age, but there's no better time to jump aboard.

Leif Peng runs this great blog which is called Today's Inspiration his routes, wanderings and explorations of the last centuries' most talented illustrators are such a fantastic and inspiring read.

Stapleton Kearns, whom you can email with technical questions for his ongoing "Ask Stape" feature where he runs through technical questions, as well as theory and development of colour/light/paint/materials/setup etc, also runs a great blog, here. He recently started a feature called 100 paintings an artist should know, which starts with this link. As he discusses later, it's not totally subjective, but there is always a question mark over what paintings etc. to include in these "lists", but he's making a good case for the ones he's run so far.

Also, he included one of my favourite pictures of the English Rococo - George Romney's Lady Hamilton as Circe, with some background included. It only matches Paul Jamin's, Le Brenn et sa part de butin as pictures that came up during college, were critically panned, but I kind of liked them. :)
