Admin ooops, Wednesday? 25th April 2012

I've been a little bit behind the curve this past fortnight. We had a quiet Pub Scrawl last Monday (the 16th) but I still have photos - I shall put them up later this evening.

Here's the listings for what I've been finding interesting and pushing on the facebook group. ;)

It's Google street view for museums - don't forget to check out the Google Art Project.

And if you want an online Art textbook, this webpage has it made.

A load of the (mostly) Dublin-based Irish cartoonists released a romance comic anthology, Romantic Mayhem!

Kekai Kotaki decided to use a tumblr to post his images quickly. His website will continue to be awesome, but the tumblr gives you a day-by-day survey of what he's up to.

Bjorn Hurri - the Hurricane :) - has been livestreaming his quick sketch work almost every night. Check it out here:

Watch live streaming video from bjornhurri at livestream.com

Wayne O'Connor of our sister group Drink and Draw Sligo pointed us in the direction of the new Irish Gaming Magazine, The Gazebo. You can read it for free here. Wayne may be involved in that project somehow.

I thought these photos from inside the Museo Sorolla from the Arto's Art blog were quite lovely. His paintings are well worth looking at too!

Gregory Manchess gives a ten-point system for planning paintings. And you should listen to him.

The Society of Illustrators opened the Microvisions exhibition. Dan over at Muddy Colors has a good run down of the pictures on display.

There's a show on RTE about the search for Ireland's favourite masterpiece. The shortlist is worth checking out.

Sterling Hundley shared a video on his tumblr about where he gets his ideas from.

And Fergal O'Connor shared his blog with us - check it out.

And that's everything up to Monday. I'll save the rest for next time. I mused about a member focus month being over April, but instead it's going to be over the month of May. Just wait to check that out!

Admin Monday 9th April 2012

This fortnight -

We heard from Drink and Draw Colombia. The phenomenon is everywhere.

We searched for the famous paintings all over WikiPaintings.org.

The Great God Pan is Dead blog highlighted Art about Books.

My mind was blown by the embroidered portraits of Daniel Kornrumpf.

We visited Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Dublin!

We saw Vampires being BASHED!

Martine Emdur paints underwater point of view paintings!

Allen Williams put up a spectacular piece on Gorilla Artfare that took my breath away.

He ran out of friend slots on facebook, but you should really subscribe to Serge Birault's updates if you're on there.

Painter David Gray put up this video of a day in his life -

If you need fonts, you'll find amazing free ones here!

And the guys on the What Not Blog are doing a week of focussing on authors and stories - my favourite was this one by Sean Phillips!

My Tumblr recommendation of the week - http://yanamoskaluk.com/.

If Tolkien is your thing, Justin Gerard has some illustrations (and a gallery exhibition) for you.

But if Akira is more your thing, there's an exhibition of Otomo's work on as well.

Galway Pub Scrawl #59 - More than one way to avoid Myxomatosis

Hello Pub Scrawlers & Scrawl-watchers!

had a great start to the month with a night in the pub last night. Most of us were pumped up after our visit to Dr. Sketchy's Dublin on Saturday with the Drink Draw Cork guys. Really inspired, watch for a post on that this week sometime!

Without further ado or adon't, here's the photos from last night -

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PUB SCRAWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We weren't going any madder than usual or anything, just Ger tried to eat my camera...

But he did draw this awesome Bunny Space Marine in between bites!

Oisin also gave us bunnies...

Linda was marking Michael Fassbender's birthday,

As was Mary....

I was not, honest!

Grainne hung out with a book on Mucha -

and Yolande made a crochet flower -

- that grew! This one was real tiny, I hope you can make out the scale and the fineness of it from the photo.

And then Oisin gave us more bunnies - he was super-productive last night!

Our next Galway Pub Scrawl - Wea-pun of Mass Destruction is in two weeks, Monday April 16th. It's officially designated as number 60 and still going strong! This month is going to be a month of posts focussing on the work various members do both in and out of Pub Scrawl, so keep an eye out for more posts than usual.
