Another round of announcements and links for the Galway Pub Scrawl!
Announcements:
We've been asked to exhibit all along one wall in 091 Labs as part of Culture Night! More here and here.
Our 3rd Birthday party is coming around soon - it's on the 17th of September and we'ld love to see you there. :) We're going to try having a Google+ Hangout as well from our Google+ page.
And now, our links -
Poor old Joe Kubert passed away the week before last. Blake Bell shared this great interview from back in the day.
Muddy Colours had a cool post on James Bama, who, along with Frazetta, defined how Fantasy & Sci-Fi book covers came to look.
They also shared Paolo Rivera's great post on painting Ghost Rider in water-based media.
The guys at Mad Art Lab built a "Giger" Counter.
I was thinking of Tarot Cards since our awesome 31 Day Drawing Challenge Tarot Day, so I really liked these ones by the Light Grey Art Labs.
Stanislav Prokopenko's blog is running awesome tutorials on how to produce Loomis-style anatomy.
This book on making Video Game Art and drawing looks badass.
Jordie Bellaire makes the most amazing breakdowns of colour palettes in movies, animations, everything. They're a really good read.
Justin Gerard's Ents & Orcs Sketchbook looks the business you guys. No joking.
Samuel Silva made this :
with just 7 colours of ballpoint pen. We are all slackers.
Jeff Wamester has been a great source of links on twitter. This composition tutorial by Phil Straub is excellent and I only found it from Jeff's twitter.
PaddyD had to point us at this article on the ill-fated "restoration" in a Spanish Church which has been an article I've found very upsetting all week. :(
That's it for the week! (Leaving on a down note haha)
donalfall out.

Pub Scrawl luvs 091 Labs
So we've been asked to exhibit some stuff in 091 labs for Culture Night on the 21st of September. We're gathering support over in a Facebook Event. Pop on over there if you're interested in joining in the gathering. It doesn't matter how tangential your relationship to Pub Scrawl is, we'ld be glad to hear from you.
The current plan is to take over one wall of the Labs and exhibit all over it, but the discussion may change depending on how things go. We may debut the Anthology Comic on the same night if we have it back from the printers! Excitement! Adventure! Come join us and the guys from 091 Labs on the night anyway for some festivities.
Thanks guys.

Galway Pub Scrawl #69 Heh heh heh
Another great night at the Pub Scrawl! It was our first try at running a Google+ Hangout from the Scrawl's Google+ Page and hopefully it was worth at least doing again! :) I, for one, was very entertained.
Many thanks to those who came to look at us in our virtual fishbowl. :)
And here's our pictures from the 'Scrawl tonight!
We had a WHALE of a time. Everyone was having the craic.
Irene made this amazing frog. :)
Yolande chatted away to Oisin, who joined us virtually over Google+
I copied a Samurai picture by Sergio Toppi.
Emma did this cool portrait from reference....
... as well as this cool Monster pic.
Patrick was doing his version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Ger was inking comic book pages.
Mary was doing this cool design. Sorry the photo isn't great.
And I couldn't really capture these characters by Jay either. He was working light on really light GSM paper, but trust me - they're awesome. :P
Don't forget our 3rd Birthday is coming up on the 17th of September! We're still going strong - stronger than ever! Stay focused on our Facebook Page, our Google+ page and the blog for future events, hangout and parties! Woop woop!

DON'T FORGET
We're going to try and do a Google+ Hangout at Pub Scrawl tonight if you want to come see what we do, virtually. I dunno how much attention *you'll* get at the far side of the screen, but we'll do our best to be entertaining/include you. :P

Admin Monday 13th AUG 2012
Back to the grind now that the 31 Day Drawing Challenge is over. Oh well. You can catch up with everything we got done over the month of July with that link there and the tab will stay up at the top of the page FOREVER... or until I run out of space for other tabs, ha ha ha.
There's notices, I suppose, although a lot of them will have expired by today. Then there is also art links. Let's roll them out and see what happens!
Notices
We might bring a laptop down to the pub next Monday and start a Google Hangout so you can come and draw along from the comfort of your own home! Keep an eye on our Google+ page for more.
Mary had two -
1) iSupply is/was looking for Print Shop/Print & Design staff
2) and way more importantly, she has this beautiful design up on Redbubble as a print or Qwertee as a t-shirt based on her Tarot Card from the Challenge. Go buy it on Redbubble and vote for it on Qwertee, NOW!
Ragz had one, but oh my god it would be cool to do - there's a chance of getting to draw Tank Girl for an upcoming project!!!
Ain't It Cool News are running a contest to mark the birthday of The Shadow, if you fancy messing with Photoshop or GIMP.
Art Links:
Richard Hescox's blog is a great resource on both his artwork and the fantastical art of other times!
If you're on Facebook, you're crazy not to keep up to date by liking these artist's pages -
superani.com
Serge Marshennikov
Otto Schmidt
Aly Fell
Jason Felix
and Jake Kobrin
The Fondation Cartier recorded the late Moebius doing a bunch of Digital Drawings. If you haven't seen these, we can't be friends -
MOEBIUS-TRANSE-FORME - Malvina (La ligne qui... by FondationCartier
Yigal Ozeri claims these artworks he's made are paintings, but they have to be photos, right? Breathtaking work.
Brian Cunningham who made it the whole way through the 31 Day Drawing Challenge with us, put up his own tumblr blog. And speaking of Sligo peeps, the Drink & Draw was restarted in Sligo and I believe a good night was had by all.
Robert Hughes, the Art Critic, passed away last week. You can see all of his show "The Shock of the New" on youtube - and you can learn a lot from his opinions.
Paul pointed us to self-portraits done under the effects of different drugs.
And if someone says to you "How do I start out as an artist?" you say "Go here" because you've already read all the books here and realise that it is good.
That's it for me. donalfall out.

Galway Pub Scrawl 68 - If Civillisation survives the Galway Races...
It seems like it's been so long! We had a great time at the Pub Scrawl this week, but I forgot to take a lot of photos - I'm sorry. :( Still, some great work going around, even though it was as warm as hell in McSwiggans - Galway is so fricking humid right now, it's crazy.
The crowd from one angle -
The crowd from another - with Keith photo-bombing in the background!
Oisin did a pic of the Mars Rover -
Patrick did some character work -
As did Jason -
Whereas I had racing on the brain -
So good, you guys. We're percolating some activity ideas behind the scenes in the old Facebook group, come join in the conversation! Whatever it will be, the ideal is that even out-of-town people can play with us. And see you all again in 2 weeks for another amazing PUB SCRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL!!!!
